Left & Right Staggered Panels Layout Tutorial

Thank you BellaMorte for making this tutorial.

This layout would not have been possible if it wasn't for BellaMorte who wanted the layout and for the help of jspunkette and Gaf210 to make the code work in most browsers.

Step 1

Open your web browser, go to http://www.imvu.com, and at the top right of the screen click on Account Settings link.

Step 2

Scroll down to the privacy & safety panel and then keep scrolling until you come to the section called Panel Visibility Settings.

Step 3

Make sure all panels on your home page are visible by either selecting all panels visible to everyone or those that are listed as off are set to Only Me. None of them should be set to Off for the rest of this tutorial, unless otherwise stated.

Step 4

Scroll to the bottom of your Panel Visibility Settings and click the button Update Preferences. You must click this button or your changes will not take affect.

Step 5

Go to the top of Accounts Settings and click on your home page link.

Step 6

Once your home page has fully loaded move all panels into the left column. No exceptions or the staggering will not work on all of them.

Step 7

If you are a beginner and don't fully understand codes, then organize your panels in this order so the code will work for you....

About Me
My Interests
My Visitors
My Wish List
My Messages
Special Someone
My Outfits
My Groups
My Buddies
My Music
My Gallery
My URL
My Room
Contact Me
My Blog
My RSS
My Stickers
My Updates
My Rankings
My Collectibles
Cool People
*My Slideshow
*My Video
*Street Team
*My New Products

* = These only apply to you if they show up on your home page. If they don't then do not stress about them.

If you are just going to copy and paste the code I provide, you will not need to make a note of the panel titles as the codes will be a direct copy and paste for you without you having to do anything. If, however, you want to try all of the steps then read carefully and good luck :)

If you are an intermediate or advanced user of codes, arrange your panels by moving them up or down to where you want them in relation to each other. At the same time make a note of the panel title of every second panel on a piece of paper. This is needed for a later step.

Step 8

Open Notepad. Now copy the following code into Notepad so you can edit it.

If you are a beginner, and not trying your hand at customizing, then skip opening Notepad and just copy directly into your About me panel, at the top, save and close your home page. Your panels should now be nicely staggered left and right, but still showing all panels. Jump to step 11.

Step 9

This step is for intermediates and advanced users only... You will be editing this piece of code:

In the code above start adding the #panel names you wrote on the piece of paper from step 07. Once done, delete any that are not on your list.

Step 10

This step is for intermediates and advanced users only... Next, copy and paste the entire code into your About Me panel, at the top. Now save and close your home page. Your panels should now be nicely staggered left and right, but still showing all panels.

Step 11

Step 11- 15 is for everyone. Open your IMVU Account Settings page, if it isn't already open.

Step 12

Scroll down to the privacy & safety panel and then keep scrolling until you come to the section called Panel Visibility Settings.

Step 13

You can now re-hide the panels you do not wish to be seen by anyone, including yourself

Step 14

Scroll to the bottom of your Panel Visibility Settings and click the button Update Preferences. You must click this button or your changes will not take affect.

Step 15

Go to the top of Accounts Settings and click on your home page link. All you should see are the panels you wish to see and all should be nicely staggered left and right. Enjoy your new look :)
